Our communications and marketing division is looking for an inspiring, authentic leader who can advance the team through its next evolution of growth and change.

Position / Responsibilities

The Corporate Communications and Marketing Division includes:

  • Strategic communication planning and marketing
  • Creative services (graphic design, internal print shop), digital media
  • Community engagement
  • Strategic sponsorships and partnerships

Your Accountabilities:


  • Develop and drive a strategy that continues to build an exceptional corporate communications and marketing team. Provide authentic, inspiring leadership, mentoring and coaching to achieve articulated, measurable goals and objectives.


  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a strategic marketing and communications plan that articulates the value and impact the city has on the lives of its citizens;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive brand strategy that consistently represents the city across all platforms;
  • Develop, lead and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy to support a culture of excellence and connects staff to our reason for being.

Issues Management:

  • Expertly monitor, identify and manage issues through a combination of skill, intuition and experience;
  • Build, nurture and maintain positive and proactive relationships with key stakeholders (including other levels of government, media, staff etc.)

Community Engagement:

  • Oversee the implementation of the city’s strategic community engagement strategy; continue to build opportunities for citizens to provide their perspective on city plans, initiatives and projects.

Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP):

  • Oversee the development of a strategic plan that creates a platform of success for the Office of Strategic Partnerships, ensuring the long term growth and development of this business unit.
  • Develop and implement an effective and scalable marketing plan that increases revenue, participation and community investment in the City through the OSP
  • Cultivate and strengthen sponsor/partner relationships at a senior level.
Candidate Requirements

Having completed your college or university degree, preferably in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or any other related discipline, you will ideally have a designation/membership or certification from a recognized communications association. You have extensive leadership experience in strategic communications planning, stakeholder engagement, media relations and public relations preferably within the Broader Public Sector. You possess strong organizational, project management, time management and attention to detail capabilities. You also have a strong business and financial acumen with a strong understanding of local government (budgeting, procurement, etc.). You have demonstrated tenacity and strength of character to ensure efficient and effective completion of all mandates and possess superior written and oral communications, research, and presentation skills.

Compensation is up to $124,115 - $ 155,143 per annum .
