ESS Support Services is a well established, award-winning, not-for-profit community support agency that has been serving seniors, older adults with disabilities, families and caregivers in the Etobicoke community, and beyond, since 1983. A community leader for over 30 years, ESS Support Services offers a diverse range of high quality services and accredited programs designed to support the independence, social well being and health of the seniors and older adults who use their services, along with a helping hand and respite for families and caregivers.

Led by an engaged Board of Directors, ESS Support Services prides itself on delivering the best possible care and excellent client services through a team of 105 professional, committed and compassionate staff working in 12 locations, as well as over 300 skilled volunteers who actively care for and put the needs of clients first and actively support programs, events and agency initiatives. ESS Support Services is accredited with exemplary standing through Accreditation Canada and is focused on client care and maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive environment. Clients can expect to receive a high standard of quality care and service to meet their personal needs and the needs of their loved ones. ESS Support Services is also proud to work in partnership with many health and social services providers and community agencies in service to the residents of the Etobicoke community.

Position / Responsibilities

Following the decision of the current Executive Officer to retire after a successful tenure of over thirty years, the Board is looking for an outstanding leader with a passion for serving seniors and older adults to improve their health, well-being and independence. The Chief Executive Officer will inspire that same passion across the organization and work collaboratively with funders and community partners to deliver the highest quality of programs and services across the Etobicoke community. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors and working closely with committed management and dedicated staff, the Chief Executive Officer will be a visionary organizational leader and strategic community partner committed to service excellence, health and social well-being for seniors and older adults and a caring and responsive approach to personalized client-centred care.

Candidate Requirements

The Chief Executive Officer will have at least five years of leadership experience within the not for profit public or private sector, preferably within healthcare, and have a proven track record of achievement in service improvement, business development and building collaborative partnerships. In addition to a degree in public administration, health administration, social sciences or a related field, you will ideally hold a Masters-level qualification in Health Sciences, Health or Business Administration and be a certified Long Term Care Administrator. A detailed understanding of the Canadian healthcare system and a working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework for long term care will be essential. As a visionary and inspirational leader with excellent interpersonal skills and proficient team building skills, the Chief Executive Officer will promote a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement and demonstrate an understanding of working in a culturally diverse and changing community environment.
