| Position / Responsibilities |
The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley is committed to delivering a coordinated, efficient, and supportive development process that serves residents, businesses, and the development community. The Planner will play a key role in achieving this objective by providing professional planning services and coordinating with internal departments to ensure development applications are processed in a timely, transparent, and consistent manner. The Planner will be responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing a range of applications under the Planning Act, including zoning by-law amendments, official plan amendments, plans of subdivision and condominium, site plan applications, and minor variance applications. The Planner will provide professional planning opinions, advice, and recommendations to staff, the Planning Advisory Committee, Committee of Adjustment, Council, and the public, and will attend meetings to present reports and respond to questions. Working closely with the Chief Building Official and other municipal departments, the Planner will assist in interpreting, applying, and enforcing by-laws and policies related to planning and development. The Planner will also contribute to planning policy initiatives, including updates to the Township’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law, and will support public consultation processes and special projects aimed at continuous improvement. The salary range for this role is $88,965 - $100,098 for a 35-hour work week. |

| Candidate Requirements |
The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in planning, geography, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and be a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or eligible for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute. The successful candidate will have three to five (3–5) years of related experience, preferably in a municipal planning environment, along with strong knowledge of the Planning Act, Municipal Act, Provincial Planning Statement, and related legislation. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to prepare professional reports and present complex planning matters clearly to Council, committees, and the public. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and GIS is required.
